HACCM is a forwarding agency for the Hyppolite mission. We have a board of directors mainly to keep an honest account of all contributions. We make no pretenses of who we are. One is a farmer, another a factory supervisor, another a factory worker. I am a retired overhead crane operator from G.M. Our association is the Christian Church. Our interest is in helping the Haitian people to help themselves, first through a Christian foundation, and secondly through encouraging higher education in all subjects and skills.
So far we have found that we need only provide a beginning and the Haitians take it from there. We only provided one laptop, and a class was started. The Haitians found nine more used computers for a class. That is today three classes of ten students each. It has been that way with every class at the school. Students range from school students preparing for college entrance exams to bank tellers to school teachers learning skills for the classroom. This mission is on the beautiful north shore of Haiti, away from the constant turmoil of Port au Prince, exactly as most Christian colleges in the USA. Here students are at peace to study and think and pray.
It's an indigent mission for a very good reason. Low self esteem stands out above all else in Haiti. it does no good to go to Haiti and express the attitude: "Step aside, the know-everything American is here." This time GOD and the Haitian people must be the winner. This work will be and has been discredited by everyone who stands to profit by Haitian illiteracy, but the proof is truly in the pudding. The mission is having successes, from baptisms at the church to skills on the job.
May GOD continue to bless this ministry. Thanks to all who help others to help themselves through our LORD.
